What is a carbide burr
Carbide burrs are tools useful for deburring, cutting, shaping, grinding, and chamfering hard materials. Different cuts of carbide burrs is going to be most suitable for many materials.
Carbide burrs are utilized in air tools like die grinders, pneumatic rotary tools and high-speed engravers, Micro Motors, Pendant Drills, Flexible Shafts, and hobby rotary tools.
Why would you use Carbide burrs over HHS(high-speed steel)?
Carbide comes with a Higher than normal heat tolerance which allows these to operate at higher speeds than similar HSS cutters, though maintain their cutting edges. High-speed steel(HSS) burrs will start to soften at higher temperatures while carbide Maintains hardness even under compression and it has Longer working life and it is a more sensible choice for long term performance on account of higher wear resistance.
Single-Cut vs Double-Cut
Single cut Burrs are suitable for General Purpose. It’ll give good material removal and smooth workpiece finishes.
Single cut is employed with stainless-steel, hardened steel, copper, cast iron, and ferrous metals and will remove material quickly having a smooth finish. Can be used as Deburring, cleaning, milling, material removal or creating long chips
Double cut Burrs accommodate rapid stock removal in harder materials and tougher applications. The designs reduces pulling action, allowing better operator control, and reduces chips
Double cut burrs are utilized on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, aluminium, soft steel as well as for all non-metal materials such as stone, plastics, hardwood, and ceramic. This cut has more cutting edges and may remove material faster.
Double-cut leaves a smoother finish than single-cut on account of producing smaller chips since they cut away the information. Use double-cut for medium-light stock removal, deburring, fine finishing, cleaning, smooth finishes, and creating smaller chips. Double cut carbide burrs would be the most favored and help most applications.
