Gerbils prefer to hide sometimes, so give them just a little wooden house. It must be made from untreated wood because gerbils are active chewers. But it should last for a little while before you will have to replace it. Empty logs are fantastic gerbil accessories, too, and could be present in most pet stores that carry gerbil supplies. Additional options for gerbil hideouts are ceramic pots or coconut shells.
One thing that many folks don’t consider when researching gerbil accessories is a bath pan. Gerbils prefer to stay clean and the easiest way is made for these to roll around in sand. Fill a smaller bath pan with clean beach sand and observe him roll!
