Inspirational Series – Robert E Lee

It’s declared that history is constructed by the victor — that in the aftermath of conflict, the defeated will often be portrayed as being a collective, detestable mass that follows a likewise repulsive value system. Yet, though his Confederate Army is at the losing end of America’s Civil War, Robert E. Lee is remembered as among the most celebrated generals in American history.

Rational ideas of armed conflict presume that defeated soldiers must be denounced, not exalted; punished, not praised; and despised, not admired. However, Lee is entirely with the latter. What made one man, one soldier, so special that he is remembered by more Americans today than a lot of his victorious Union counterparts?

Unfortunately, this is the question that lots of volumes of books experienced trouble answering. And, I believe which you have no desire (in this moment, no less than) to see content of such depth and breadth (and I admit i can’t write it). Nonetheless, if I needed to describe the reason for Lee’s appeal in a single word, it might be “motivation.”

Let me explore this theme while the next quote:

“There is scarcely anything that is right that individuals cannot aspire to accomplish by labor and perseverance. But the first has to be earnest and the second unremitting.”
Robert E. Lee

Earnest Labor

Today’s culture is but one by which immediacy is glorified — from your Round-the-clock news cycle; to tarts that “pop” simply uses pour a glass of milk; to magic weight loss supplements — so that it is possible to forget that anything worth accomplishing takes earnest labor, which I would define like a serious and purposeful exertion of body, mind and spirit.

When businesses discuss pouring their blood, sweat and tears within their companies, they refer merely to earnest labor.

When the craft of the famous musician or star athlete appears to look “easy,” it can be made so through earnest labor.

And, when I strive to achieve come about of managing a marathon, Let me spend on one principle: you guessed it, earnest labor.

A chance to learn; the electricity to improve; and also the strategies which goals are accomplished; are controlled from your capability to strive, also to accomplish that earnestly — without reservations (or even a magic pill).

Unremitting Perseverance

Lee fought an uphill battle for most of the Civil War. His outnumbered and poorly-supplied army shrank daily due to desertions by disheartened soldiers. Yet, regardless of this, he fought vigorously prior to the moment when defeat was imminent.

How frequently do we give up on goals when things aren’t proceeding exactly as we had anticipated? Have you opt to quit smoking, however learned you needed a massive project due in the office, school, or elsewhere? Did you try setting up a practice of awakening earlier each morning, but then slept next day and decided rrt had been a pointless exercise?

Lee has an answer of these, and also other, problems: unremitting perseverance, that i would define as being a steady, unshakable persistence in sticking to a strategy, belief, or purpose.

After i train for and in the end run the marathon, I understand there is a little voice inside my head saying to prevent; it hurts an excessive amount of to look a step further. However, my unremitting perseverance in adopting the challenge — to the conclusion line — will enable me to concentrate and then my footsteps contrary to the pavement; the gentle breeze passing over my ears; and the rhythm of my breathing — thus pushing that little voice in to the depths of my subconscious.

Nevertheless, robert e lee quotes is a great example that harboring unremitting perseverance will not ensure victory. All things considered, he was defeated in war. Yet, even just in momentary failure, perseverance will give you the ability to acquire back on your own metaphorical (or actual) horse and ride into battle (hopefully metaphorical) again, pursuing your ultimate goal together with the knowledge that may basically be learned through setback.

It is stated that history is presented by the victor; and, in Lee’s case, it really is. In capturing the hearts of american citizens, both through his military actions, his personal value system, with his fantastic sincere words of wisdom, Robert E. Lee is clearly victorious.
