It is said that history is presented through the victor — that in the aftermath of conflict, the defeated are often portrayed being a collective, detestable mass that follows a similarly repulsive value system. Yet, though his Confederate Army is at the losing end of America’s Civil War, Robert E. Lee is remembered as among the most celebrated generals in American history.
Rational ideas of armed conflict presume that defeated soldiers must be denounced, not exalted; punished, not praised; and despised, not admired. However, Lee is entirely from the latter. What made one man, one soldier, stand out he is remembered by more Americans today than many of his victorious Union counterparts?
Unfortunately, this is a question that many volumes of books also have trouble answering. And, I suspect you have no desire (in this particular moment, a minimum of) to read content of which depth and breadth (and that i admit i can’t write it). Nonetheless, if I needed to describe the reason behind Lee’s appeal in a single word, it could be “motivation.”
I will explore this theme in the context of these quote:

Earnest Labor
Today’s culture is one in which immediacy is glorified — in the Round the clock news cycle; to tarts that “pop” one which just pour a glass of milk; to magic weight loss suppliments — such that you can actually forget that anything worth accomplishing takes earnest labor, that we would define like a serious and purposeful exertion of body, mind and spirit.
For when companies speak about pouring their blood, sweat and tears inside their companies, they refer simply to earnest labor.
Once the craft of the famous musician or star athlete generally seems to look “easy,” it is made so through earnest labor.
And, when I attempt to achieve my goal of managing a marathon, Let me invest in one principle: you got it right, earnest labor.
A chance to learn; the power to switch; along with the means by which goals are accomplished; are controlled from your capability to work tirelessly, and also to do this earnestly — without reservations (or possibly a magic pill).
Unremitting Perseverance
Lee fought a constant battle for much of the Civil War. His outnumbered and poorly-supplied army shrank daily as a consequence of desertions by disheartened soldiers. Yet, despite this, he fought vigorously before moment when defeat was imminent.
How many times will we give up goals when things aren’t proceeding exactly as we’d anticipated? Do you choose to stop smoking cigarettes, however learned you possessed an enormous project due at the office, school, or elsewhere? Have you try creating a habit of getting up earlier each day, but slept within the next day and decided it had become a pointless exercise?
Lee posseses an answer of those, and other, problems: unremitting perseverance, which I would define being a steady, unshakable persistence in adhering to an alternative, belief, or purpose.
Once i train for and in the end run the marathon, I know there might be a little voice around my head saying to prevent; which it hurts a lot of to visit one step further. However, my unremitting perseverance in following your challenge — up to the tip line — will enable me to concentrate just to my footsteps from the pavement; the gentle breeze passing over my ears; and the rhythm of my breathing — thus pushing that little voice in the depths of my subconscious.
Nevertheless, robert e lee quotes is a great example that harboring unremitting perseverance will not ensure victory. After all, he was defeated in war. Yet, even in momentary failure, perseverance offers you the ability to get back in your metaphorical (or actual) horse and ride into battle (hopefully metaphorical) once again, pursuing your main goal with all the knowledge that could simply be learned through setback.
It is stated that history is constructed from the victor; and, in Lee’s case, it is. In capturing the hearts of american citizens, both through his military actions, his personal value system, and his sincere words of wisdom, Robert E. Lee is clearly victorious.
