1. A: Hawthorne effect. The name originates from studies of workers at the factory called Hawthorne Works in the early area of the last century. The study found that when workers know they’re being monitored during an experiment, the outcomes in the experiment tend to be different than those achieved by workers getting involved in the same experiment who’re unaware they are being monitored. Sometimes the gap is positive, and often the gap is negative, but when workers know they’re being observed during an experiment, the final results will often be skewed, and this has to be taken into consideration.
