Did you ever hear the expression “it is the thing that it is”? What does that expression mean exactly?
Before I understood the deeper specification of this expression, I envisioned an emaciated yogi guru within the lotus position floating across the ground imperiously imparting wisdom that will take scholars multiple lifetimes to interpret. Since this is my last life in the world and the lotus position would put me in traction, I knew that consulting this course In Miracles would help me clarify its meaning.
What is the IT that we’re covering here? In line with the Course in Miracles, It can be truth, specifically God’s truth. Why is it crucial that you emphasize it’s God’s truth? Because God’s truth is not offered to interpretations whereas a human’s simple truth is. Multiple versions of human truth have result in a several religions. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines religion as being a “system of thought, feeling, and action that is certainly shared by way of a group understanding that provides the members a thing of devotion.”
Who devised the system of thought? On whose feelings are these thoughts based? Are actions really necessary? In line with the Course In Miracles, God just is and our ultimate goal would be to return to a perfect condition of being. There isn’t any thought or action from the state of being, you merely are. What ought not to be forgotten could be the underlying thread of religions: God is creator, God is love and we are all perfect and infinite children of God.
Put one way, “it is exactly what it is” can be rewritten to “God’s love could be the only truth which is absolute” and this truth knows no bounds and is also timeless.
