I remember, a few years ago, reading content with a prominent blogger and SEO expert about “mobile blogging”. He had a “blogging box” which allowed him to blog wherever he was (that i thought would have been a bit stupid and pretentious). It included searching for camera, a laptop using a 3G modem, a notepad and pen, and various other odds and ends. The full lot almost easily fit in a suitcase.
Thankfully, stuff has managed to move on a little bit, and we are in possession of WordPress apps for iPhone/iPad and Android. Both apps are actually compatible with additional or less recent versions of WordPress. However, be sure you check which sort of WordPress you have to be running in order to access your dashboard via mobile.
Blogging vs Microblogging
Obviously, most of your limitation when using a cell phone for blogging is always that everything is a small bit much more of annoying. You cannot type as quickly, upload as much pictures, format at the same time, or execute a few advanced things. You’re able to do almost everything you may need, yet it’s a little bit more cumbersome.
That said, the way in which forward is clearly microblogging. By microblogging I don’t mean a twitter-esque update. I just mean a bare-bones post, having a picture and some commentary that you just looked at whilst you were away from your laptop along with a wi-fi connection.
What this enables you to do, amongst other items, is live-blog events and issues that happen. If you spot something exciting, it is possible to require a photo or a video of computer and put it in your blog even before you return home. In case you are in the business of breaking news, this could be invaluable.
