How weddings have changed on the decades! From your handful to 400-500 invited guests; one-two to six-eight bridal party members; a simple wedding car to expensive and huge wedding cars; three course meals to course meals; one to three live bands; simple attire to colorful and flamboyant dresses, suits and attire and off-the-cuff to well-prepared wedding speeches.
Talking about aforementioned, wedding speeches are still an important part of a married relationship and guests do enjoy hearing them, talking about them before, during as wll as after they’ve been delivered.
We have all heard of wedding speeches delivered prior to meal, throughout the meal after your food, however it is of a strong opinion that the wedding speeches should be delivered after the meal. I understand that for many wedding ceremony speakers i.e. Father from the Bride Speech, Father with the Groom Speech, Bride Speech, Groom Speech and Bestman Speech (5 main speakers), they’d want to hold the wedding speeches prior to the meal, for them to enjoy their meal (a lot of them are spending money for it!). However, it’s all about the invited guests and how many of them (as well as wedding ceremony venue staff) would rather the wedding ceremony speeches being delivered following the meal for a lot of reasons, some of which include:
The invited guests happen to be fed and watered and are not listening to wedding speeches on an empty stomach (at least of food, which could be so before the meal, though weddings today do provide light snacks upon arrival on the wedding venue)
Food may be cooked and served at the agreed time (introduce the wedding speeches prior to meal along with their can be quite a delay of A quarter-hour to 1.5 hours, driving your kitchen staff crazy trying to keep food freshly cooked, presentable and edible)
Wedding ceremony speeches become the transition in the meal for the dancing (broke and alone happening as soon as the meal, everyone is expecting ‘a few words’ to be shared concerning the Bride & Groom then they do know they are able to get up, move, have a break, take a stroll, see a bar…)
It’s not easy for fogeys of the Bride & Groom to talk in public places, since most of them would not be used from it. So, they may, whenever they so wished, speak ahead of the / their meal.
There should be some form of formal wedding speech(es) as soon as the meal…
