For a long time I have been struggling to catch this broadway tour in multiple cities. Something has long been in how. Between work, travel and everything else I usually missed this show. In 2018 everything changed. I’d the grand privilege of attending media night for your Lion King Musical at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Discuss the most fitting location for this type of unprecedented ensemble.
I had been a child once the movie premiered in theaters. My mom took my siblings and I as to the could be just about the most celebrated Disney Classics of them all. The Disney shows. The tale was new for me nevertheless the message of hope was familiar. The songs like “The Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata” could possibly be heard inside our household for years to come. To determine my personal favorite childhood movie performed on the live stage only at that most prestigious venue was a dream become a reality.
This production is very honestly the most visually entrancing theatrical presentation that I have ever seen. From a to z, my senses were thrilled. Since the house lights dimmed, the drums started plus it was showtime. Buyi Zama was outstanding as Rafiki. She was the comic relief through the show. Her costume stood out and her performance was memorable.
Vibrant colors and abstract art laced the entire stage. The adaptation of Mufasa, as performed by Gerald Ramsey, was riveting. I had been so fascinated with the headpiece that he wore. He surely could fling it around as though it was natural. Clearly it absolutely was.
The dancing was simply captivating. It took me to my days in the dance company. The performers executed choreography seamlessly while gliding about the stage with grace. I saw quite a few ballerinas too. They’re one of many hardest working teams I’ve ever witnessed on any platform.
Young Simba and Nala were remarkable performers. I could tell which they labored inside their craft and understood blocking. It is essential for young performers to know the art. It should result from a real place. I can’t know them however i was so proud.
Greg Jackson performed the part of Zazu. I kept track of him the whole time. He blew my head along with his quick wit while handling his puppet. I loved it!
Timon and Pumbaa were just as I remembered them growing up. The rebel duo from the jungle. Their props were impressive. I could not help but to sing together with “Hakuna Matata”.
Mark Campbell literally part of Scar much too well. His headpiece was fun to watch too. The past scene with Mufasa is still hard to watch. My heart sank because he fell to his death.
Adult Simba was played by Gerald Ceasar. His portrayal was noteworthy. There was no doubt that he was the real king.
Nia Holloway was extraordinary as Nala. From her costume to the delivery of her lines, she was phenomenal. I recently heard that she attended school in Georgia. Yes, another budding star from your peach state!
After a while, I personally began to think that these actors were real animals. Their movements were very reminiscent of the animal kingdom. With their feathers, full mane and punctiliously crafted cloths it is really an experience that you could only fully appreciate live.
Audiences were drawn in by what happened before them, nonetheless it couldn’t survive possible without those under the surface. Experience has educated me in a great deal in regards to the industry. Especially how vital background staff are. I applaud all of the unseen heroes that helped to make such a magnificent show a hit. A manufacture of this magnitude is nothing with out them.
There aren’t way too many words will be able to use to spell it out this once in a lifetime possibility to watch magic unfold on stage. Things i know is the fact that I now understand why here is the #1 musical on the planet. Kudos to everyone involved in bringing this story alive night after night. Everyone have introduced this masterpiece to another generation inside the most incredible way.
