Band Marketing and promotion – How to Advertise your Band and obtain More Gigs

I believed about writing this post on band promotion since i have often heard new bands and struggling musicians wishing they were more paying gigs. Finding a paying gig is a useful one, I mean… you may spend time and effort, energy as well as cash on getting your act together.. rehearsing, visiting rehearsals and gigs (gas could be a pain in case you travel by car), buying your gear, etc. But getting money gigs for brand spanking new acts can be very difficult.


While I believe that it is great to get paid, I don’t mean to state you should consider a band as being a business. A few things i am saying is, it could be practical to at least have your costs covered.

Obviously, that would depend on you and your explanations why you are in a band to begin with.

Some bands desire to play; enjoy playing; feel that playing and achieving their music available is the greatest compensation there exists… along with the return of these purchase of effort, time and money is always that possibility to get up there and PLAY. In addition there are individuals that work on a long-term goal like building their particular following and achieving their music across to them.

The reasons why you’re doing so, basically sums it down.

But, in case you planned to get paying gigs, here are some steps you can take.

1. Focus on Your products

Once in a while I stumbled upon a client who struggles with promoting their services or products, and hang in a lot of effort simply to get minimal results. The reason is, they haven’t yet been able to accurately develop, define and refine their product, which explains why aggressively promoting something mediocre will forever yield mediocre results.

So what is your product? This guitar rock band, plus your music. The important thing question for you is how will you set yourself apart from the rest. The gender chart you accomplish that is exclusive, or what exactly is it you can do better than everybody else?

2. Define Your Music/Repertoire

Repertoire defines what type of band you’re. It also defines who your audience is. I think writing and recording original material is great because insurance firms your personal music you create a good thing that others don’t have. Developing a manager will surely have many advantages, the other of the items I see managers doing that bands that manage themselves cannot, is be objective. The manager sees something that individual members in a band do not see, this runs specifically true when some folks this rock band develop egos that cloud their judgment. Members usually tend to get tunnel vision and may not respond well along with other people’s opinions that will not be flattering, a manager knows if criticisms are valid and take these not emotionally but objectively.

Managers should also be very aggressive and persistent, a pal of mine (a manager for any huge act) once said an account about how she approached bar after bar simply to get denied each time and it was given a number of reasons and excuses. She never gave up, and did not give up her band… today that band is a major recording artist… and also they are big for a while now.
